Mr. John Reid, P.E. is the Founder and President of Reid Engineering Co. with over 45 years of wastewater engineering experience. John has been involved in hundreds of wastewater treatment design projects over the years. John was at the forefront of the environmental regulatory push for Industrial Users along the eastern shore to comply with the most stringent Nitrogen and Phosphorus effluent limits at that time gaining him over 25 years of specific biological and enhanced Nitrogen and Phosphorus removal design experience within the Chesapeake Bay watershed. Due to this industry leading experience John has personally designed over 50 biological nutrient removal wastewater treatment facilities across the nation. He is a sought-after expert. There is no wastewater issue, problem and challenge he won’t take head on which is why so many clients have relied on him and REC for over 40 years as their trusted engineering partner.
Additionally, With the EPA Effluent Limit Guidelines for Meat and Food Processors John has been sought after by many of the Top 100 Processors to lead the design effort of their wastewater treatment projects to meet or exceed the required effluent limits for Total Nitrogen. John is also sought after when clients are dealing with TMDL’s which has required many of RECs top clients to upgrade their existing wastewater treatment systems to meet more stringent Total Phosphorus effluent limits. At every turn regardless of the regulatory requirements John has helped and guided many clients to achieve their desired outcome of being in complaint so they can focus on providing great products to their end consumers.
John currently plays a lead role in working closely with the engineering team at every design stage. John enjoys mentoring young engineers and designers.He shares is wealth of knowledge and has made a conscious effort to leave a legacy, so clients know they will always be in good hands. John is passionate about process design, innovative technology and developing creative design approaches. He is held in high regard in the red meat and poultry industry for his engineering leadership in wastewater treatment over the past 40 years.
